Interesting thing is Xbox 360's HD-DVD player doesn't have HDMI (yet?) either. Methinks Microsoft and Sony know that HDMI won't be needed for a while... especially if those rumors about ICT not being implemented until around 2010-2012 are true.

The only reports I've seen about the Cell and its 'problems' are either about chip yields or it being tough to program for. At the same time, I've seen studies from universities citing how the Cell will work wonders in computing.
I, however, have never seen any report about problems with the Cell architecture itself (i.e. how it was built) like the Inquirer story where something is terribly wrong with it.
So before you guys say anything that's your opinion, you're going to say "in my opinion" first?

I can't believe you are lumping The Inquirer article with this one simply because they both have anonymous sources. GamesIndustry.biz has one big thing over The Inquirer: reputation. The difference? GamesIndustry.biz gets their information by contacting developers directly while The Inquirer gets theirs by running into some idiot with DevStation presentation slides on a plane flight. To top it off? The guy doesn't even know what the slides mean, but just throws out his opinion on a specificat...
When someone says anything, it's already their opinion, so why would they have to label it as such. Do you not realize that when someone says something like that it's their opinion? Should I be marking what I'm saying now with "in my opinion" too?
If you guys would just look at the information in dispute (the slide presentation), and then maybe read about the Cell, you wouldn't need these 'unnamed sources' opinions. You'd realize that the Cell is fine (not broken according to one specification), and that Cell doesn't need to read the video memory anyway.
But, I understand that's too much effort for you guys.
The $500 price tag will definitely turn consumers away, no doubt about that. But that wasn't the point, right? It was 'where are the fans?' Well if the majority of PlayStation owners (Fans?) don't read stuff like this or follow the industry, then that's still tens of millions of people who are probably looking forward to PlayStation 3 simply because it's the next PlayStation. We'll see how much the price turns them off when the time comes.

Islandkiwi, this is the same for just about all PCs and even the 360. Except people make a bigger deal out of it because it's PS3, and when the information is given to someone (Inquirer) who doesn't know what they're talking about.

Well, Kojima has said it would be possible to develop MGS4 on 360, but you're right in saying that comment would not be based on any experience on his part, just from specifications and in terms of developing a new game. Anyway, my argument was that in his statement about the camo only being possible on PS3 he's talking about PS2 and other current-gen platforms for reasons I've already stated.
